In 2019, our community determined that diverse voices were missing from community cultural and nonprofit governing boards. The library was asked to quarterback an initiative which would open access to these decision-making positions. The result was the development of a sustainable training program which opens these doors for more voices than ever before.
Our presentation will examine evolving trends in the library's internal workplace dynamics, especially as they relate to incivility. Findings from our 2022 study on library workplace incivility and dysfunction will be presented and compared with our 2017 data to illustrate both the changes and current status of library organizations and their staff. Topics explored will be general, internal workplace incivility, bullying, and mobbing along with practical ideas to create a more positive and dynamic work environment for all.
